Cured meats, hmm... delicious! But don't eat cured meats in large portions. Recent study shows that people who consume large amounts of cured meats have about 3% reduction in lung function compared to those who never eat cured meats

The study conducted by Graham Barr at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, U.S. surveyed more than 7500 people - 20% of them never ate cured meats, while another 20% were regular consumers of cured meats at least 14 times a month.

During the study, participants breathed into a machine that is used to measure lung function and test on how quickly they could blow out air. Participants who were regular consumers of cured meats blew out 115 milliliters of air less per second than those who never ate cured meats. A healthy person usually is able to expel about 2.5 litres to 3.0 litres of air from lungs per second.

According to Graham Barr, a link between processed meats and cancer has been found on previous studies and this is the first study to show an affect on lung function in humans.

The nitrogen-containing compounds that food producers use to cure meats may become reactive in the body and attack proteins that give lungs their elasticity. A 3% drop in lung function may not be noticed by average person, but it is a significant and noticeable reduction for those with lung disease.

However, more researches need to be done and this preliminary analysis should not stop you from eating cured meats, just watch out your portion, please!

Doctors have long advised women that are overweight and plan to become pregnant to lose their weight because a number of studies has been conducted and shows that there is a link between obesity and pregnancy complications, such as pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure or hypertension), gestational diabetes and stillbirth

But recent study, as published in the British medical journal, The Lancet, found that an increase in body mass index or BMI between your first and second pregnancies also may increase the risks of above pregnancy complications.

The results showed that weight gain between first and second pregnancies was associated with an increased risk of all these overweight and obesity-related adverse outcomes. A gain of one to two BMI units increased the risk of gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension or large-for-gestational age birth an average of 20 to 40 percent. A gain of three or more BMI units showed a 63 percent greater chance of stillbirth compared to a gain of less than one BMI unit and also a greater effect on all other complications. Additionally, the researchers found that the risk of adverse outcomes increased even in women who were not overweight, but who gained a modest amount of weight between pregnancies. For example, if a woman who was 5 ft., 5 in., tall and weighed 139 lbs. (giving her a BMI of 23, not considered overweight) gained 6.6 lbs. (1 BMI unit) between her first and second pregnancies, her average risk of gestational diabetes would increase by more than 30 percent. If she gained 12.2 pounds (2 BMI units), her risk would increase 100 percent. The risk would continue to climb if she gained more weight and became obese.
So, it turns out that even only a relatively modest increase in weight between pregnancies would lead to serious illness. And of course the only key to prevent the risks is that women of normal weight should avoid gaining weight between their pregnancies, while obese and overweight women is highly recommended to lose weight if they have a plan on getting pregnant

An acid reflux diet typically restricts the intake of certain foods that are known to increase stomach acid. Some people even claim that there are foods that “cure” the syndrome.

You can currently find for sale acid reflux diet books, alongside other popular diets and cookbooks. One author states that apples “cured” his acid reflux. He is now selling a report in which he details “three natural remedies” for acid reflux.

These are supposed to be foods that cured his acid reflux. He does admit, however, that they may not work for everyone. In our opinion, it may be more effective in the long run to design your own acid reflux diet, using a food and symptoms diary to record what foods seem to trigger symptoms.

Natural remedies for acid reflux include changing the foods you commonly eat and even when you eat, how much you eat, and in what circumstances you eat. Such changes, believe it or not, may be effective for reducing symptoms of acid reflux.

Most doctors and other healthcare professionals recommend that in order to control symptoms, an acid reflux diet should exclude certain foods that are known to increase stomach acid. Tomatoes and citrus fruits, for example, are highly acidic. So is chocolate. And fried or fatty foods can also increase stomach acid and worsen symptoms.

You may think that an acid reflux diet must be bland, but while some spices trigger symptoms, some commonly used cooking herbs are considered natural remedies for acid reflux.

Changing from garlic and chili powder to ginger, fennel seed and turmeric may help. Ginger, fennel seed and turmeric were used in traditional medicine to treat indigestion and heartburn. Modern herbalists have combined some of these “herbs for heartburn” to create natural remedies for acid reflux.

In addition to following an acid reflux diet that limits highly acidic foods, experts say that eating less than three hours before bedtime increases the likelihood that you will have nighttime symptoms.

This is because lying down after eating allows gravity to work against you and makes it easier for stomach acid to creep up into the esophagus. Knowing this, some companies sell wedge-type pillows calling them natural remedies for acid reflux, but some doctors who specialize in treating the syndrome maintain that these pillows may actually worsen symptoms by “folding” the stomach.

These doctors recommend raising the head of the bed (with blocks, for example) 6 inches higher than the foot of the bed, so that gravity can still help keep acid in your stomach, without “folding” and creating extra pressure on the stomach.

If it isn’t what you eat or when you eat, it could be how much you eat. An effective acid reflux diet plan may include several small meals every few hours throughout the day, rather than one or two large meals. The more food that is in the stomach, the more likely that acid will reflux.

Another one of the often suggested natural remedies for acid reflux is simply losing some weight. Extra pounds put extra pressure on the stomach and more acid creeps up. At night, this can lead to sleep disturbances, coughing, snoring and even sleep apnea.

Following an acid reflux diet plan that is low in fatty and fried foods and calls for meals every couple of hours is not only one of the effective natural remedies for acid reflux, but it could help you lose weight since it primes the metabolism.

Doctors typically recommend antacids or proton pump inhibitors, at least for short-term use, to prevent or neutralize stomach acid. There are a number of herbal and botanical products that may do the some thing.

For example, mangosteen juice (a health drink), taken before meals, effectively dilutes stomach acid and may be considered one of the natural remedies for acid reflux. An acid reflux diet alone may not be enough. If not treated, acid reflux can lead to damage of the esophageal lining, which can lead to esophageal cancer.

Components of the mangosteen have been shown to reduce inflammation and actually prevent the formation of cancerous tumors in laboratory studies. Tell your doctor about which acid reflux diet and what natural remedies for acid reflux you are using and get regular check-ups, even if your symptoms seem to be under control.

Iced Coffee & Your Health

The seemingly innocuous Coffee Flavored milk, a favorite among children and adults alike is found to contain harmful caffeine levels, double the amount found in energy drinks.

Some of the iced coffee varieties have three times the caffeine found in a normal Cup of coffee, researchers from Griffith University said after conducting tests on more than 20 varieties of iced coffee-flavored milk.

The National Health and Medical Research Council has issued a warning to parents against allowing children to consume caffeinated drinks, known to cause a host of problems such as sleep disturbances, bedwetting, and anxiety.

Researcher Ben Desbrow said, "A lot of people think it is better for you because it is milk-based. But actually it is worse. Caffeine in iced coffee is considered a natural ingredient.

Study Shows Small Increase in Cancer Risk in Men With History of Gum Disease

Men with a history of gum disease may be more likely than other men to develop cancer, a new study shows.

The study included more than 48,000 male health care workers who were followed from 1986 through January 2004.

When the study started, the men were asked if they had a history of gum disease with bone loss. They also answered questions about their diet, physical activity, smoking, and medical history.

The men completed health surveys every two years and dietary surveys every four years.

During the study, the group had 5,720 new cases of cancer, not counting nonmelanoma skin cancer or prostate cancer that hadn't spread beyond the prostate.

Compared to men with healthy gums, men with a history of gum disease were:

14% more likely to develop cancer overall

49% more likely to develop kidney cancer

54% more likely to develop pancreatic cancer

30% more likely to develop blood cancers

Those results take various risk factors into consideration.

The findings show a "small, but significant increase in overall cancer risk," write the researchers, who included Dominique Michaud, ScM , of Imperial College London.

Michaud's team notes that inflammation from gum disease may play a role, but observational studies like this one don't prove cause and effect, so more research is needed to check the findings, which appear in The Lancet Oncology.

Ayurvedic & Teeth Whitening :-

Many methods are known to the Indian science of Ayurveda by which a person can get the whiteness of teeth back.

There are also methods to maintain Teeth Whitening.

(1) Useful Herbs for Whitening of Teeth

1. Babul (Acacia arabica) :-

The importance of babul in Teeth Whitening cannot be expressed in words. It is so much important in Ayurveda for this purpose that the ancient Indians used nothing but the twigs of the babul (the other tree used for this is neem) as disposable toothbrushes. The tannin present in babul is effective in increasing the whiteness of teeth.

2. Banyan (Ficus religiosa) :-

The aerial roots of the banyan can also be used as disposable toothbrushes. The banyan roots have astringent properties, which not only make the teeth whiter, but also make the teeth and gums healthier.

3. Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum) :-

The leaves of the holy basil are dried in the sun and powdered and used for brushing teeth. The leaves help in maintaining dental hygiene and make the teeth whiter. Apart from the whitening properties, holy basil is also used for protection from problems such as pyorrhea (i.e. bleeding of gums).

4. Margosa (Azadirachtha indica) :-

The neem tree, or the margosa, is a traditional remedy for having white healthy teeth. Neem twigs are used by several Indians even today as toothbrushes. Neem oils contain astringent and antiseptic properties to fight bad breath, kill microorganisms accumulated on the teeth and to combat dental caries and cavities.

(2) Dietary Methods for Teeth Whitening :-

To keep the teeth clean and white, pungent, bitter and astringent foods must be included in the daily diet.

These tastes have an astringent effect on the teeth which helps to maintain them clean. They also take care of the excess buildup of plaque on the teeth, which makes them lose their pearly white color.

Sugary foods in any form are bad for the teeth.

Chocolates are also not good. If you do consume such foods, you must remember to wash your mouth thoroughly with strong gargles so as not to leave any sweet residue in the mouth.

Avoid excess tea and coffee.

These beverages contain strong alkaloids which can stain the teeth.

The same is applicable to smoking. Almost every person who smokes will lose the white coloration of the teeth.

Chewing of the paan (betel leaf), as is done in several Indian regions, is also disastrous to the whiteness of the teeth.
This habit can stain the teeth cream, yellow or even a dirty shade of rust brown.

Healthy Teeth is also one of the great part of Good Health.

Most of Dentists are used Laser Teeth Whitening to bleach or whiten the Teeth.

Laser Laser Tooth Whitening is one of the best methods adopted by many people because It is efficient, quick and painless.

There are several factors that make the teeth yellow, age being the most common one.

Smoking and caffeine in coffee and tea are also some of the contributing factors.

Laser Teeth Whitening is done painlessly and briskly and once it is finished, the teeth are many folds whiter than before.

Laser tooth whitening involves mainly two steps, one is teeth cleaning in which the dentist removes the plaque and germs present in the teeth that have a major effect in the whitening process. Next is the application of gel and laser treatment when the dentist applies the gel and positions the teeth for laser treatment.

The Advantage of Laser Tooth Whitening :-

Generally one visit will suffice to get a bright smile.

But the disadvantage is that it is more expensive than any other method. .

The price also varies with the condition of the teeth. If there are more stains and yellow color the cost may be more.

The laser teeth whitening are as safe and effective as a high-speed drill for removing dental decay and preparing a cavity for a filling.

Laser teeth whitening uses a hydrogen peroxide based bleaching gel. It has 32% hydrogen peroxide concentration and a pH of 7.

This active ingredient is responsible for tooth whitening by releasing enormous amount of oxygen to the enamel to make it lighter in color.

Some of the tips to maintain healthy teeth are to brush the teeth after every meal or at least the mouth should be rinsed with water.

The teeth should be brushed and flossed in the morning and evening. Undergoing regular checkups can prevent cavity damage and gum disease.

Just brushing the teeth twice a day yields such a big benefit of giving a great look, a healthy body and a beautiful smile.

tooth discoloration

Posted by navdeep garg | 8:52 AM

Tooth stains and discoloration embarrass a lot of people who are anxious to give their teeth a cleaner, whiter look.

It’s important to note that stains and color changes are often just the natural result of aging.

Thankfully, most people can achieve a greatly improved look through a variety of options.

Why do our teeth stain?

A number of elements in everyday life can stain teeth :-

(1) Food and drink -- Tea, coffee, colas, wine and some fruits and vegetables (potatoes and apples)

(2) Smoking – Cigarette smoking or chewing tobacco

(3) Poor dental care -- Poor brushing and flossing habits

(4) Diseases -- Several diseases can affect enamel and its underlying surface

(5) Disease treatments -- Head and neck radiation and chemotherapy

(6) Medicines -- Tetracycline and doxycycline(when given to children whose teeth are still developing),antihistamines (like Benadryl), antipsychotic drugs, and antihypertensive medications

(7) Materials used in dentistry -- Silver sulfide-containing materials in metal (amalgam) restorations

(8) Your genetic history -- Some people have naturally brighter or thicker enamel

(9) Injury -- Damage from a fall, etc.

Why do some peoples’ teeth stain more than others?

Some factors may predispose patients to morediscoloration, including :-

(a) Genetic history – Some people simply have naturally brighter or thicker enamel.

(b) Minute enamel defects – These tiny defects allow staining substances to accumulate more rapidly for some individuals.

(c) Insufficient saliva – A substance that clears remaining food and early plaque, saliva can be in low supply for some individuals.

How do dentists correct stained teeth?

Before any form of teeth whitening is initiated, it’s essential that a dentist identify the source of a patient’sdiscoloration.

Understanding why the staining has occurred helps to determine what teeth whitening treatments are appropriate, or if alternative measures are required.

Some ways in which discolored teeth discolored teeth are corrected include the following:-

(1) Bleaching :–

Bleaching alters your natural tooth color, typically making it five to seven shades brighter.

In office whitening and at home whitening are both bleaching procedures.

Bleaches contain carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide to remove deep and surface discoloration.

(2) Laser whitening :–

A targeted, high-intensity light beam is used to clear deep and surface stains. Results can be dramatic and can be achieved in as little as one session.

Those for whom whitening is not an option include people with tooth-colored fillings, caps, crowns or bonding especially in their front teeth.

Bleach isn’t effective on these materials as the whiteningsubstance does not affect them.

In these cases, dental veneers placed over the discolored teeth may be the best option.

benefits of home bleaching

Posted by navdeep garg | 8:51 AM

Home bleaching offers an affordable alternative to bleachingtreatments in your dentist's office. Your dentist will tell you whichteeth whitening methods are the best for your teeth.

In some cases, your dentist may have the capabilities of making ableaching kit for you to take home.

Although not all whitening methods will be effective, your dentist will know what procedure will work best for your individual needs.

Teeth that have a yellowish color generally whiten well. Teethwith a brownish color may not respond as well to treatments. If your teeth have a grayish color to them, they may not respond at all.

Bleaching Techniques :-

All bleaching products contain peroxide in one of two forms, carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide.

This chemical dissolves organic stains on the teeth which changes the color to a brighter, whiter appearance. There are a few different bleaching products available which contain peroxide.

• In-Practice Products :– This method begins in the dentist's office, where a solution with a very high percentage of peroxide is applied to the patient's teeth. In some cases, the solution is activated by a laser, light or heat application. Once the procedure is complete, the patient is given a take home product to use regularly until the desired whiteness is achieved.

• Custom-Fitted Bleaching Trays :– This product is used under the supervision of the dentist. The solution contains a lower percentage of peroxide and is placed in a tray that is worn either overnight or during the day. The custom-fitted tray holds thebleaching solution against the teeth and reduces the contact with the gums. Some of these products contain fluoride to prevent and treat tooth sensitivity. When trays are worn overnight, the desired effect will be reached in one to two weeks.

• Over-the-Counter :– These whitening products contain a low percentage of peroxide. Use caution with these products because some contain an acidic solution that can dissolve tooth enamel if not used properly.

• Some of these products use a tray that is standard and not made to fit individual mouths. As a result, the solution may be swallowed instead of held against the teeth. Others havewhitening strips that are placed on the teeth for approximately half an hour. These strips work well but can irritate the gums. The results can be seen in about a week and can last up to a year.

• Teeth Whitening Toothpastes – These products also contain a small percentage of peroxide. They are effective in cleaning andwhitening teeth, although some may be abrasive, which can have an adverse effect on tooth enamel.

Teeth whitening products are meant to remove surface stains and prevent build up of new stains, but are not effective for removing internal stains.

Depending on the type of teeth bleaching product you use, your results can last anywhere from one to three years. Brushing and flossing will help to maintain the whiteness and brightness.

The results will also greatly depend on your personal habits. Some habits that are counter productive to your whitening efforts are:

• Drinking red wine

• Drinking tea

• Drinking coffee

• Smoking

Home bleaching is a process that you are in control of. You can whiten your teeth at an affordable price in the comfort of your own home.

If you choose to follow all directions from your dentist and the product packaging thoroughly, you will be able to enjoy a whiter and brighter smile in a relatively short period of time.

Most parents are completely surprised by how much vim and vigor a twenty-five pound toddler can pack. It is a well known fact that the toddler years can easily be some of the most trying times for parents. The good news is that with a few tips and tricks under your belt, the toddler years can indeed be survived - and even be enjoyed most of the time by both parent and child. The key to managing this often challenging phase is to allow your child room to grow and explore while at the same time, establishing boundaries and rules for him. The balance can be delicate and tricky, but is essential in developing a good relationship with your little one.

Providing a Safe Environment

Besides child-proofing your home to make it safe for your youngster to play and explore, there are other ways to offer safety and security as well. Believe it or not, a toddler feels most secure when he knows what to expect of his day, and that you will be in charge of his life until he or she is big enough to manage it on his or her own. This type of security will come from a regular daily routine, so that your little one will be able to anticipate the next activity as the day progresses. It is also important for toddlers to understand the behavior that you expect from them. You can communicate this to them through consistent boundaries and a clear enforcement of the rules of the house.

It may seem that your toddler rebels against all of your efforts at routine and boundaries in the house. These years begin the time that your son or daughter will begin to establish an independence from you, and part of this process is pushing the limits - and you - as far as possible. While this can make for a rocky relationship between you and your tot at times, rest assured that this is a necessary developmental phase for your child. It also helps if you remember that the time spent in battle will usually diminish somewhat by the time your son or daughter enters grade school. If you have succeeded in holding fast to the boundaries of your home, your child will fare better during the school years as well.

Enjoying your Toddler

There is a reason that children are so cute between the ages of two and four. When the daily power-struggles begin to wear you down, those big blue eyes, crooked smile or infectious giggle that characterize your child just might save your day. Despite the ongoing discipline issues that every parent of a toddler faces, your child is going to be a joy to watch as he or she explores the world and learns to relate to family members. You will fare much better during this life phase if you allow time for you and your child to simply play and spend time together. Sometimes the world can seem much more delightful when it is seen through a toddler's eyes. Enjoy this precious time in your toddlers life.

In the midst of all the alternative medicine treatments that you've heard about recently, you may have noticed aromatherapy mentioned a few times. Many dismiss the idea of using scents to bring medical results as quackery, and that's understandable in many ways. There's a lot of information about aromatherapy that comes from people who speak about it based on their spiritual beliefs and a lack of information that comes from detailed medical studies. As a medical treatment in Western nations, it's still a little new, so there's still plenty to learn about it. Let's explore some of the ways that aromatherapy does help people so you know how to better incorporate it into your life.

As A Medical Practice

The basis of aromatherapy comes from the use of essential oils , which are extracted from plants using distilling processes, resulting in concentrated liquids that are often very fragrant. In France, where aromatherapy is used in concert with traditional medical practices, but it's for the antiseptic properties of the scented oils  more than anything. In France, essential oils are sometimes prescribed and administered by a physician to target harmful organisms that might lead to bacterial, viral, or fungal infections.

If you're wondering where the "aroma" part of aromatherapy comes in, there are traditional medical practices in the United States in which the scents of various compounds result in an alleviation of symptoms of illness. The one most people are familiar with is the use of things such as Vicks VapoRub or Halls cough drops to help drain clogged sinuses and throats. Aromatic chemicals such as menthol and eucalyptus bring an alleviation of those symptoms, which are often associated with colds.

As Stress Therapy

When you start to venture out of such applications and begin to talk about alleviating stress with aromatherapy, then you start to get into ideas that come less from observed scientific evidence than from common theories. Aromatherapy is often suggested as a way to reduce symptoms of stress in people and for other effects. For instance, basil oil is often suggested to ease the effects of depression and to help you to concentrate, while lavender is used for relaxation.

While many of these supposed effects aren't determined through scientific study, it's easy enough to notice that pleasant scents can make people feel cheerier. In that respect, it wouldn't hurt to practice a little aromatherapy at home; at best, it really will help and at worst, you still end up surrounded by nice scents. So, whether you're using it for medical purposes or just to relax, aromatherapy offers something for you.

The technique of inserting and manipulating needles on the body is known as acupuncture and according to its teachings; acupuncture helps restore health and well-being and is especially beneficial in the treatment of pain. The World Health Organization has defined and characterized acupuncture points and recognizes acupuncture. It is well known that the origins of acupuncture lie in China and are closely related to most traditional Chinese medicines. There are other forms of acupuncture such as the Japanese, Korean as well as classical Chinese versions which are not only practiced but also taught all around the world today.

Scientific research has been taken up with finding out whether acupuncture is efficacious or is merely a panacea and there have been many reviews of existing clinical trials which suggest that it is efficacious for headaches, low back pain as well as nausea. However, there does not seem to be sufficient evidence to determine whether acupuncture is effectual or not, for most other medical conditions. Nevertheless, there is consensus that acupuncture is safe when it is used by well-trained practitioners and more research is needed on this subject.

Known to the Chinese since the 1st Millennium B.C

Acupuncture in China goes way back to the 1st millennium B.C. and there is also archeological evidence to prove that it can be dated to the Han Dynasty. There is also literature available of traditional Korean medicine that was known as chimsul and Japanese versions referred to as Kampo. Acupuncture does not really follow the trail of scientific biomedicine and is more of a paradigm whereby it treats the human body that involves many systems of function' that often is associated with physical organs, though some systems of function such as the triple heater (San Jiao) are not associated with a physical organ.

Disease is considered to being loss of homeostasis that exists in the various systems of function and in order to treat such diseases, an attempt is made to modify the activity using one or more systems of function through use of needles, pressure, heat on the body's sensitive areas localized as acupuncture points and is referred to as treatment of patterns of disharmony.

It is not necessary for the acupoints to be on the same area of the body as the targeted symptoms and many acupuncturists, especially those in Japan, are heavily dependent on palpation for tender points, which are known as ashi points. The basic theory to this form of treatment is that they work through stimulation of the meridian system and give relief through rebalancing the yin, yang and qi and this theory is based on a paradigm not science.

Are you in danger of Mesothelioma Cancer? The short answer is yes.

Asbestos is still widely used and has been used in everything from schools and work places, to appliance lining and insulation, and anywhere a fireproof barrier is needed. Most people do not understand that asbestos is still used in manufacturing many products. The air, drinking water, and even some consumer products still contain small amounts of asbestos. Asbestos fibers are even released into the air from natural deposits in the earth.

The industry feels justified in their use of asbestos because it is only dangerous after it breaks down and is released into the air. Wear and deterioration of asbestos products is the primary way to release fibers into the air.

The industry is quick to point out that people who have had a single, high-level exposure, incident, or are exposed for a short period to lower levels of asbestos, are not likely to contract Mesothelioma Cancer.

What most people do not understand is that they do not need to be in a dangerous environment. If they know someone who works in a dangerous environment, they may have been exposed through fibers that clung to clothing, was deposited in vehicles, and released into the environment through their clothing.

How to Be Tested

People at risk from exposure to asbestos from work or at home need to inform a doctor of their exposure history and symptoms. Asbestos fibers can be measured in urine, feces, mucus (fluid coming out of the body), or material rinsed out of the lungs. This may make it possible to test for asbestos long before serious symptoms occur - a vital factor in life expectancy.

A physical exam and chest x-ray may be recommended, but this is not an adequate. A chest x-ray cannot reveal fibers, just changes in the lungs. The x-ray must be sent to an experienced specialist who understands how to look for asbestos-related diseases.

The body must also be tested for fibers.

Mesothelioma cancer is rare, but the incidences of it are on the rise. Currently, it affects 2 000 Americans a year. It is caused by an inflammation in the sac-like lining around many of the body's internal organs. The most common type of this cancer is pleural mesothelioma. This cancer in the lung's linking causes up about 60% of all cases.

Peritoneum Mesothelioma is cancer in the lining of the abdomen and is found in 40% of all cases.

Pericardium Mesothelioma, is found in the lining of the heart and is the rarest form, accounting for a very small percentage of all cases.

Currently, exposure to asbestos fibers is the only cause of mesothelioma Mesothelioma, and other asbestos-related diseases. The problem in diagnosis is caused because asbestos remains dormant in the body from 10-50 years before scarring the tissue and causing cancer.

The optimistic news is that not all Mesothelioma is cancerous.

There are two forms: benign and malignant. Benign mesothelioma is non-cancerous and is removed and cured through surgery.

Malignant mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer. The life expectancy for patients ranges from 4-30. This quickly spreading cancer is difficult to treat. Early detection and treatment is lengthening the life expectancy of people diagnosed with this type of cancer.

This makes it vitally important for people exposed to asbestos to seek help immediately, even if there are no obvious symptoms. It may be too late to help them when symptoms appear. People who feel they may be at risk for Petritoneum, or Pericardium Mesothelioma should start medical and legal proceeding before becoming ill.

Eventually, when these things accumulate more than what the body can accommodate, it can crush the bodys ability to naturally detoxify. In time, this will lead to nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalance, and disorganized metabolism.

Addiction is a traitor it sneaks up on you. People who are addicted often do not recognize that they have a problem, they think that the problem is with everyone. Addiction is different from abuse, a person can abuse drugs and not be addicted.

What Is Mesothelioma?

Mesothelioma the medical name for cancer of the pleura (the lining of the lung and chest cavity) or cancer of the peritoneum (the lining of the abdomen). It is usually caused by prolonged or persistent exposure to asbestos.

Symptoms of mesothelioma may not appear until between twenty and fifty years after exposure, which explains why so many new cases of this form of cancer are coming to light now, even though the dangers of asbestos were realized long ago and measures taken to reduce the risk of the disease.

As with many forms of cancer, the mesothelioma tumor can spread rapidly, often infecting the opposite pleura, and continuing on to other internal organs. Symptoms include a shortness of breath, chest pains, coughing, and loss of weight. Signs of a possible alcoholism include having friends or relatives express concern, being irritated when people comment on their drinking, feeling guilty about their excessive alcohol consumption and thinking that they should moderate it but finds themselves unable to do so, or needs a morning drink to steady their nerves or relieve a hangover.

I always believe that if the person's energy fields are harmonized and balanced (yin & yang), then his health will generally be good. I also believe that physical health follows mental and psychical health.

It does not necessarily mean that detox diets have to be super technical or complicated, in that, only the people who have background in health and medicine can understand. A large portion of the heavy metal detoxification work we do centers around the oral cavity, mercury and other heavy metals that are stored in our patients mouths. We are proud to point out that all of our biological dentists have been doing mercury free dentistry for the majority of their careers.

Cancer rates and cardiovascular disease in the United States alone are among the highest in the world as a result of technology interfering with our food supply and living environments.

Testing can be carried out initially by X-Ray, with a Thoric CT and open lung biopsy being used to confirm the findings of the early tests. If it is diagnosed early enough, the tumor can be surgically removed, and with follow-up chemotherapy and radiation treatment, full recovery is often possible.

However, in more advanced cases, cure is usually not possible. In such cases, chemotherapy and radiation treatment can be used alongside other pain relief treatments, to ease the symptoms. Where cure is not possible, the average survival time is between four and eighteen months, depending on the stage of the tumor and the general health of the patient.

This is where a person experiences the complete and abrupt discontinued of all addictive drugs or anything else on which they have become dependent. This type of drug and alcohol rehab often results in something called withdrawal that is often very unpleasant with side effects including vomiting, hot and cold flashes, hallucinations, paranoia, insomnia and other uncomfortable and sometimes frightening effects.

If toxins are present within your body, oxygen and the body's "food supply" cannot get inside your cells to supply needed nutrients, nor can the cells' waste products get out.

The abundance of possible problems coupled with the severity of heavy metal toxicity has led to the creation of Heavy Metal Detox. Drug detox is not that simple! So find out more on how you can do a proper home drug detox. Conventional, mainstream (allopathic) medical practitioners have yet to latch on to this concept, since they're only trained to treat diseases and symptoms specifically without treating the patient as a whole.

Vegetables will help your body get rid of toxins brought about by pollution, smoking, and other environmental stress.

Mesothelioma Attorneys-Experts That are Ready to Fight For Your Rights

as a result of reckless use of asbestos need special protection and representation to make sure that their interests are looked after.

Mesothelioma might not show up in someone until a number of years following first being exposed to asbestos. Resulting from that fact, people may assume that a statute of limitations could be placed on this sort of case, and that there is not a financial or legal measure for people who are suffering from Mesothelioma. Attorneys, of course, know better and are expertly skilled and trained about the best ways to get compensation that is fair and just for victims of this dreadful disease. If you, or somebody you love suffers from Mesothelioma, you ought to talk to an attorney specializing in negligent health cases, including issues that involve needless exposure to asbestos.

Another reason that it is critical to have somebody, like a lawyer, or a Mesothelioma attorney expert in your corner is that diagnosing or identifying this kind of cancer can be difficult. In some unfortunate circumstances, misdiagnosis occurs, which delays the onset of appropriate treatment that is necessary for Mesothelioma. Attorneys, barristers and other legal experts know how to take into account the anguish and torment of misdiagnosis when they work on behalf of those that are suffering from this terrible illness.

Mesothelioma lawsuits against asbestos manufacturers are on record as early as 1929. However, a great deal of buildings, houses and schools that were constructed after 1929 still used asbestos, even though the dangers have been undeniably documented and confirmed. In fact, while complaints about asbestos have been documented since before the thirties, it was many years earlier, in 1898, that had the very first recorded case of Mesothelioma. Attorneys and lawyers may use this legal precedent to expertly and skillfully make the case for sufferers of this type of cancer.

Unfortunately, people that have mesothelioma cancer normally aren't expected to live long following an initial early diagnosis. This puts victims, as well as their families in emotional and financial difficulty, as they labor to make ends meet while they deal with this crushing news. Rightfully so, families and close friends are entitled to compensation as well, since the careless use of asbestos has caused the mesothelioma. Attorneys will fight for the rights of their clients when it comes to cases such as this.

If you or someone you know is suffering from Mesothelioma because of asbestos exposure, you need to hire a qualified and skilled Mesothelioma attorney who can act in the best interest of you and your family.

From personal research, Maria Nelson provides a research tool online for Mesothelioma as well as other cancer types. This includes resources on specialized cancer centers, a Mesothelioma lawyer directory for legal consideration and doctor information.

Mesothelioma is a very rare form of lung cancer that arises in the mesothelium. The mesothelium is made up of parietal and visceral membranes, thin layers of tissue, which surround organs and body cavities, such as the lungs or abdomen. The visceral membrane immediately surrounds the organ, and the parietal membrane is a sac covering. The visceral and parietal membranes that make up the mesothelium. The mesothelium is referred to by different names, depending on what part of the body it is found in.

Dealing with mesothelioma

Dealing with mesothelioma is a very difficult process. It will require a lot of physical and emotional endurances. The best way to understand mesothelioma is to learn everything that you can learn about the disease. This should include the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of mesothelioma- cancer of the lung lining.

Symptoms

Since mesothelioma-cancer of the lung lining takes a long time to develop inside a human body. It is often difficult to identify the symptoms. In the early stages there may not even be any symptoms at all. When they do appear the most common early symptoms are shortness of breath and chest pains.

Presentations and expectations

There are two major types of asbestos: chrysotile and amphibole. It is thought that exposure to the exposure to the amphibole form is more likely to cause mesothelioma-cancer of the lung lining. However, chrysotile has been used more frequently hence many mesothelioma are caused by chrysotile.

Removal is taking place in schools and other public buildings throughout the U.S. . The hope is that these measures will greatly reduce the occurrence of this cancer.

Long-term effects of the disease

A mesothelioma-cancer of the lung lining is a highly aggressive tumor that is generally deadly. Current treatment of malignant mesothelioma-cancer of the lung lining is designed to make the person with cancer comfortable.

Screening

There is no universally agreed protocol for screening people who have been exposed to asbestos. However some research indicates that the serum osteopontin level might be useful in screening asbestos- exposed people for mesothelioma. The level of soluble mesothelin- related protein is elevated in the serum of about 75% of patients at diagnosis and it has been suggested that it may be useful for screening.

Treatment

Once mesothelioma-cancer of lung lining has been diagnosed a treatment procedure can be recommended and begun. The correct treatment will depend on a number of factors. They include the location of the tumor, the stage of the disease and how far the cancer has spread in the patient. The recommendation will also depend on the age and overall health of the patient.

It is certainly not easy to deal with all of the medical, physical, emotional and financial issues that may be raised when dealing with a serious disease like mesothelioma-cancer of lung lining, but it always better to be prepared. We can just have a hope that in future as the medical science advances this incurable disease can also be cured and lives of many people can be saved.

Asbestos was once regarded as a wonder substance due to its heat resistant properties. It was, therefore, a widely used material, particularly from the 1930's - 1980's and exposure still continues wherever it is disturbed / removed.

The cost of asbestos claims in the UK could reach £20 billion in the next 30 years.

Claims can be made by Claimants, even though the exposure was 30 or more years ago, and the past employer(s) has gone out of business.

Claims can also be made for deceased Claimants on behalf of their loved ones/estate.

Successful 'secondary' claims for Asbestos exposure have been made by spouses, children and grandchildren, after they were exposed to harmful fibres on work clothes worn home.

The compensation obtained can, in many cases, amount to well in excess of £100,000, depending upon the severity of the particular disease.

Asbestos has no respect for socio-economic group or occupation. There are over 1,000 new cases of Mesothelioma reported every year in the UK. It is generally accepted asbestos is the cause.

The types of occupation where exposure can be found/occur include the following:-

* Asbestos Cement Products Industry (used for strong, inexpensive building materials, eg tiles, corrugated roofing, gutters, water and drain pipes, chimneys etc. * Floor tiling industry * Insulation and Fire Proofing * Carpenters * Electricians * Power Plant Works * Plumbers * Roofers * Central Heating and/or air conditioning contractors * School and Hospital workers * Ship workers

Symptoms can include breathlessness and persistent coughing which may cause sleepless nights leading to fatigue. Some sufferers report chest pain and feeling as though a heavy weight is pressing down on their chest, depending upon the particular condition.

There are a number of state benefits available to victims and their carers. A specialist Solicitor can not only pursue asbestos compensation claims for sufferers on a true No Win No Fee basis, but also provide advice and assistance with applications in order to maximise benefit entitlement.

Pleural Mesothelioma is rare. That is what the people in charge would have you think. If Pleural Mesothelioma is so rare, how do you think, more than 2000 to 3000 new patients are diagnosed every year?

The fact is Pleural Mesothelioma used to be a rare form of cancer which made a symptomatic appearance 30-50 years after exposure to Asbestos. You see the only way to contract Pleural Mesothelioma is by being exposed to Asbestos. Before 1980 there were no laws protecting the workers from Asbestos exposure in the workplace, however, once it was seen that people working in an environment of Asbestos exposure were being diagnosed with Pleural Mesothelioma 30-50 years after their exposure, laws began to change.

Just imagine you work for 30 years in an industry and when you near retirement age you or your loved one contracts Pleural Mesothelioma.

What is Pleural Mesothelioma
Pleural Mesothelioma cancer is a malignant form of cancer found in the sac lining of the abdominal cavity or around the lining of the heart. It's a fast and deadly cancer as once the symptoms develop it divides at a swift rate and complications are created within a year. The survival rate is nil and the life expectancy once the pleural Mesothelioma cancer develops is hardly two to three years, if you are lucky.

Asbestos Exposure and Pleural Mesothelioma
80% of all Mesothelioma cases are for workers in the asbestos industry. The disease is more common in men between the ages 50 and 70 and is contracted through the occupational hazard.

Most laws emerged but as yet, fail to give complete protection to the workers in the Asbestos industry. People working in shipyards, mines, insulation factories etc are still as viable to get pleural Mesothelioma as they were decades ago. Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma causes death. The fault lies with your employer.

Mesothelioma Resource Online, presents information that will help you understand the disease; its causes, effects and how you can best cope with it. If you need further assistance or have some questions on what you have seen so far, please feel free to contact us for more information.

Action You May Take
Money is not everything. But if you or your loved one have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma as a result of Asbestos exposure, consider legal action as you may be entitled to MONETARY COMPENSATION.

50 years ago asbestos was hailed by many as a miracle product, they said nearly anything could be made from this mineral. It is used as additive to reinforce mortar and plastics. Asbestos fibers can also be separated into fine threads that do not conduct electricity and are unaffected by heat or chemicals.

In the 1970's, following the discoveries of the health dangers of asbestos dust inhalation, the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission prohibited the use of asbestos in several products that could liberate asbestos fibers into the environment during use.

Asbestos can cause dangerous diseases that call Mesothelioma cancer. These fibers lodge themselves in the lining of the lung and infected mesothelium tissue. Asbestos can trigger tumors growth between 30 to 40 years after they are inhaled.

When asbestos fibers enter the body, by either breathing in the tiny asbestos fibers or by swallowing them, they can cause healthy cells to mutate into cancer. Asbestos may also cause coughing, lung damage, and shortness of breath in the short period for inhaled this.

According to one survey, one out of seven general public who came into contact with asbestos may develop any of the poles a part types of asbestos-related cancer, including mesothelioma.

Today it is understood that anyone working with or near asbestos has an increased risk of developing mesothelioma, so there are strictly controlled limits of exposure in the work place. But since the dormancy period of mesothelioma can often be 30 or 40 years, there are millions of workers who are at risk because of their exposure in the decades before the safety controls were put in place.

Varicose veins can be described as gnarled, enlarged veins that appear close to the surface of the skin. Any vein can become varicose, but veins most commonly affected include those found in the legs and feet. The reason for this is that by standing and walking upright, there is increased pressure in the veins of the lower body which causes deformities in the veins.

May Be an Indication of More Serious Problems

A common variation of varicose veins is known as spider veins, which are a common as well as medically insignificant form of varicose veins. Varicose veins may cause aching pain and can, in certain instances, also lead to more serious problems. They can be a symptom that indicates a higher risk of other circulatory system disorders.

Varicose veins are quite commonly found in people living in the United States, particularly among elderly women. In fact, women get this problem the most. There are no insurance policies to cover expenses incurred on elective cosmetic surgery to treat this condition. However in cases that include symptoms such as swelling and bleeding, one may be able to get the treatment costs covered through insurance.

Treating varicose veins and spider veins is often successful, but the condition can recur. One way around the problem is to wear compression stockings which can be used before trying out other treatments. The compression stockings are worn all through the day and they help to squeeze the legs and helps veins and leg muscles to circulate blood more efficiently.

Compression stockings are sold at many pharmacies as well as medical supply stores, and one can even purchase prescription-strength stockings. The prices usually vary and a pair of stockings should normally last four to six months. It is important to ensure that the stockings fit properly and they should be of sufficient strength, although they do not need be very tight.

There are also home remedies for varicose veins, including an application of apple cider vinegar to the affected veins. Using this method should show a shrinking of the veins within a month of beginning the treatment.

Many people tend to worry about having varicose veins, and seek medical advice to find out what their treatment options are. This is a wise practice, since your doctor is best qualified to tell you whether your condition can and should be treated and which treatment is best for you.

Causes Of Anxiety

Posted by navdeep garg | 12:16 AM

Have you ever felt that you are so tired and yet cannot relax and feel like you have to do something even if there is nothing left for you to do? Well, what you may have is an episode of anxiety and findings have shown that it also leads to depression and sleeping disorders if not diagnosed and properly treated.

Though it really is a mental condition and roots deeper than we thought, there are numerous causes of anxiety that lead us to feel restless, stressed out or pressured, and alone. Here are some of the many causes of anxiety that may lead to bigger problems.

Known Causes

Though sometimes it is already obvious, but a common cause of anxiety is the problems that we are facing in our lives. And if we are lucky and we have finally resolved the problem we are surprised that all the agitation, the restlessness, and pressure that we are feeling goes away with the problem. On the other hand, anxiety can also be rooted from variety of psychiatric syndromes like schizophrenia, depression, alcoholism, or withdrawal from a bad habit or treatment using long-term medical drugs.

Others will also find it that another cause of anxiety lies within their genes since people who have relatives and other family members that have a history of anxiety and other mental problems. These genes can be passed on and if you are one of those unlucky people who inherit those "worry" genes, then you are more susceptible to feeling anxious.

In some cases, anxiety may be rooted from tremendous and horrible accidents that can lead to phobias like car crash, fires, and others. The people who are involved with these types of accidents are more likely to suffer from anxiety because of post-traumatic stress disorder. If you feel like you are suffering from post-traumatic disorder, it is best that you contact your doctor to properly diagnose it and do whatever is best to help you overcome your trauma.

The use of illegal drugs like LSD, marijuana, ecstasy, and many others can greatly make the user more paranoid and have the feeling of being anxious. Even caffeine can contribute to your feeling of anxiousness like when you drink coffee or tea. Prescription drugs can also cause anxiety.

But then again, if you feel like your anxiety is getting out of hand and you are really getting uncomfortable with the episodes that you get, the best thing that you can do is contact your doctor for proper diagnosis and medication.

Life coaching can be a very rewarding career especially for those people who like to help others succeed in their lives. If you are one of those people who would like to engage in life coaching as a career, here are some of the important things that you need to know about this emerging new profession.

What Is Life Coaching?

A lot of people associate life coaching with therapy but the truth is, life coaching is not targeted at helping people with psychological ailments. Yes, life coaches follow some of the procedures used in therapy but where therapy aims to correct psychological problems, life coaching strives to correct the development path of the person.

Life coaching is rooted in the idea of executive coaching and draws on the techniques developed in the areas of management consulting and leadership building to guide people towards achieving their goals. There are many disciplines involved in life coaching namely psychology, sociology, management, finance, political science and others.

In other words, if you want to engage in the profession of life coaching, you must have some backgrounds in any of the aforementioned disciplines to be able to help your clients. Life coaches apply different methods of assisting clients. Most life coaches use goal-setting, mentoring, behavior modeling, values assessment and behavior modification to help their clients.

What Investment Do You Need Before You Can Start a Life Coaching Career?

The biggest investment that you need to put up to start a life coaching career is your time and your expertise. If you want to be a good at your job, you need to get advanced training in coaching, mentoring, goal-setting and the likes. Do not stop learning new things everyday. Always remember that the needs of your clients are evolving so you need to keep abreast with the latest development of your industry.

To facilitate coaching sessions with your clients, you will need a telephone and a computer with internet connection. Most clients are usually too busy to sit down with your and discuss their plans so you will most probably have to talk to them on the phone or online most of the time. If most of your clients prefer to get counseling over the phone or online, you need not set up an office in a commercial district. You can even work at home to save cost on rent and other overhead expenses. Just set up a small office in a vacant room in the house where you can work in peace.

Got wrinkles? Get Botox. This appears to be the mantra of this century when it comes to looking good and keeping wrinkles at bay. But what is this amazing anti-aging treatment and where did it come from? Botox was first introduced in the 1980's as an option for treating medical conditions like uncontrolled blinking and lazy eye.

It didn't take long for doctor to realize that this procedure could diminish the lines and wrinkles that were the result of the aging process as well, and a multi-million dollar cosmetic industry was born. This procedure has become so commonplace today; many women don't even have to make an appointment for the treatment any longer. After lunch with friends, simply pop by your doctor's office for a de-wrinkling. Quick, convenient and no more wrinkles; what more could you ask?

Botox injections were originally approved by the FDA for treating lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows in 2002. Doctors now use Botox to eliminate any number of other signs of aging, including crow's feet and lines across the forehead. The end result can be skin that looks smoother, younger and wrinkle free. And the really exciting thing about this procedure is that you can see the results almost immediately. There is no recovery time to speak of, no scarring and very little discomfort throughout.

How does it Work?

Botox injections consist of very diluted amounts of the botulism bacterium that is injected directly under the skin's surface. This substance will cause controlled weakening of the muscles so you end up with muscles that are softer and more relaxed. The procedure itself only takes a few minutes, and there is no anesthesia necessary, which is why some doctors can perform Botox injections on a lunch hour or for drop-in patients. The results are quick - but they are far from permanent.

How Long does it Last?

The average amount of time that a Botox injection lasts is four to six months. At this point, full muscle function returns and so do the wrinkles. At this point, you can repeat the procedure to keep lines and wrinkles at bay. You may find that your returning wrinkles are less pronounced than the original lines you saw, since the Botox injections can "train" the muscles of the face to relax somewhat.

Botox is a great way to look and feel younger, but it is not for everyone. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not have this treatment done. Women who suffer from a neurological condition are also no good candidates for this procedure. If you are interested in finding out more about Botox treatments for you, make an appointment with your doctor.

If you have crossed 30 years of age and you are a woman, you are likely to be worried about aging and sometimes even have some signs of it, such as fine lines around your eyes, faint laugh lines etc. In the present day, even men have become conscious about their looks - especially aging of the skin - though basically, they have Mother Nature on their side! While women look old, men look dignified and full of character when they cross into middle age.

Do Not Wait until You Can See Your Wrinkles across the Road

You would be surprised with what you can do at home, without spending too much time, effort or money on reversing the effects of aging. Anti aging does not always mean to have thousands of dollars spent on different medical and cosmetic interventions. Rather it would mean that you lead a disciplined life both with regards to your daily habits as well as with the food you consume. In fact some of the most effective anti aging products are found right in your kitchen.

Potato

Did you know that the humble potato has exceptional anti aging effects? The potato can give you an instant face lift as well as can wipe off the tan and fine wrinkles from your skin? Just cut two slices (as the beauty salons do with cucumber slice when they give a facial) and put these on your eyes for 10 minutes. For the face you take one medium size potato and about two tablespoons of apple sauce and grind together into a very smooth. Apply on the face for 15-25 minutes and then wash away with warm water. This would make he skin literally glow from inside.

Vitamins

You must have heard that vitamin supplements can improve the texture of your skin for which purpose you would do well to include these to your diet. You can also expose the skin to some topical applications for boosting the result - mix tomato puree and lentil flour in equal proportions. Subsequently add half a teaspoon of lemon juice, and about half an inch of turmeric paste. You can apply this simple anti aging remedy to the face twice or thrice a week for best results.

Papaya

Mash ripe papaya and apply to your face for about 20-30 minutes. Wash away with warm water and add a little moisturizer to experience one of the most luxuriant anti aging facials ever. Papaya can be substituted with ripe (not over ripe) banana for similar results.

GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition that is focused on the digestive systems of people. It is a disease that is commonly incurred by the stomach's reflux that reaches the esophagus. The disease is quite common among adults and not life threatening. One can tell if one has gastroesophageal reflux disease because of symptoms that include heartburn, difficulty swallowing and some pain in the chest area. Other common symptoms of GERD are hoarseness in the throat along with coughing, sensation of burning pain in the chest, ear ache, sinusitis and nausea. Although, the symptoms stated above are signs of gastroesophageal reflux disease, one or two of them together does not necessarily mean that you have GERD. There are other sicknesses and diseases that have these symptoms.

Causes of GERD

The main cause of GERD is the incompetence of the anti-reflux barrier in our body. Although the lower esophageal sphincter also contributes to GERD, the inability of the anti reflux barrier is the main cause. Obesity has also been linked to gastroesophageal reflux disease as well as hypercalcemia where there is an increase of gastrin production.

GERD is also caused by several factors which include the inability of the lower esophageal sphincter to do its work properly, irregular expulsion of the gastric acids from the esophagus a hiatal hernia and the intermittent relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter.

Individuals who think they have Gastroesophageal reflux disease should go visit a medical practitioner for the proper diagnosis of the disease. An internist who specializes in our digestive system's diseases would do very well. Getting a medical opinion can be helpful for those who suffer chronic GERD and its myriad of symptoms which can be very uncomfortable.

There are several treatments for GERD and these are classified as non drug treatments, drug treatments and surgery. As their names suggest, the non drug treatments do not encompass using chemical based drugs and other medicines that are based in science. The treatment can be as simple as elevating the head during sleep or adjusting one's posture. Drug treatments for GERD are readily available but you would need the prescription of the drug from a verified medical practitioner. Surgery as a treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease is only for cases where the other treatments do not work or as a replacement of long term drug use. GERD is actually not a life threatening disease therefore surgery is not a rushed decision.

Asthma is a chronic condition that affects millions of people. While some choose to treat the condition with medication, others opt for breathing exercises or other means. Many may even have it and not be aware of it because it has not progressed to such a degree as to cause concern. The severity of asthma varies depending on the person, from hardly noticeable to life threatening. It is characterized by restricted breathing and tightness in the chest.

People suffering with asthma may have trouble getting enough air into and out of their lungs when experiencing an attack. This is because the airways have become inflamed and thus the passage through which the air normally flows has been narrowed. This causes panic because the sensation of not being able to breathe can be upsetting for many people. However, getting nervous about the onset of an attack can exacerbate the symptoms and make the attack worse.

Therefore, it is important to remain calm in the face of an asthma attack. Breathe slowly and calmly, and try to focus on something other than the immediate situation in order to relax. If you've been prescribed medication for attacks, such as a rescue inhaler, take it in the method that's been prescribed. If the symptoms persist after a few minutes of this activity, you may need to seek medical attention.

Things to Avoid

An asthma attack may be triggered by different things for different people. Through trial and error, one can discover what triggers their attacks and avoid or, at the very least manage, the triggers of their attacks better. Some people, particularly those with less active lifestyles, may find that exercise causes them distress and may bring on an asthma attack. For those individuals, doctors recommend that they start exercising slowly and do only very light activities until they build up strength in their heart and lungs. After this has been achieved, then they can gradually move to more strenuous activities.

In fact, many doctors say that building up the lungs in this manner may actually be beneficial to those people who wish to control the frequency and severity of their symptoms. It is important to avoid overdoing it the first time out, however, which is a mistake many people make. You must work up to your goal slowly so that your body can adjust to the change, rather than trigger an asthma attack.

Understanding Homeopathy

Posted by navdeep garg | 10:53 PM

Homeopathy is a very widely used form of medicine throughout the world today.

How Homeopathy Works

The principal that is used in this form of medicine is known as the law of similars. In other words, "like cures like." This strategy is also found behind immunizations. It means that a substance that is able to cause the disease can also cure it. For instance, if coffee leaves you wide-awake then a homeopath may use diluted coffee to relieve your bouts of insomnia.

The Founder Of Homeopathy

Samuel Hahneman, who was a German doctor and chemist, developed the current form of homeopathy more than 200 years ago. It was his belief that a cure should work fast, be gentle and permanently restore a person to health. Removing and annihilating the disease in its entirety as fast as possible should accomplish this healing. When this is done it should be through a reliable and harmless way.

How Scientific Is Homeopathy?

Most modern mainstream medical professionals use to believe that homeopathy is far from being scientific. They also believed that it is not very effective. These beliefs were held until 1991 when the British Medical Journal published an extensive review about the effectiveness of homeopathy. Herein it was found that out of the one hundred seven clinical trials that had been published in reputable medical journals, seventy-seven showed that this form of medicine worked. With this in mind they went on to evaluate the methodology to see how carefully the trials were conducted. They were surprised to discover that most of these trials were actually quite effective. As such, many medical professionals today feel that this was enough evidence for them to readily accept that homeopathy can be effective.

How Are Homeopathic Remedies Prepared?

Homeopathic remedies are derived from plant, mineral and animal substances. They begin as a liquid solution that is then taken through a series of dilution steps that involve shaking so that the liquid becomes more potent. This is also when it turns into a tiny sugar tasting ball, which is what you will dissolve in your mouth. As you can see, it is no wonder that so many people were skeptic when this form of medicine was first introduced. After all, it tastes too good to be medicine.

Learning More About Homeopathy

Most countries have a registered body of homeopathy that can be found through a Search Engine search. For instance, in the UK it is called the Alliance of Registered Homeopaths. This is where you can find a registered practitioner.

When you were young, you probably dreaded a dental visit. But then a change occurred. And a few short years ago, you could not stop dreaming about what your dentist could do for you, between teeth whitening, invisible braces and other get-gorgeous tweaks.
Now, he is lucky if he gets an afterthought, especially when it comes to your regular cleanings. New research has found that when the economy is bad and you are unemployed, you take it in the teeth, putting dental care at the bottom of your to-do list -- even if you have dental insurance.
And that can drag down the rest of your body (not to mention your love life). Brushing and flossing daily and getting professional tooth cleaning regularly all greatly reduce the risk of gum disease.
And gum disease has been linked to a host of other health problems, from heart attacks to erectile dysfunction.
Here is why: We think gum-invading bacteria may trigger an immune response that promotes inflammation and arterial hardening throughout your whole body, which restricts blood flow.
A professional cleaning once or twice a year is ideal. But you cannot just leave flossing to the pros (they know if you lie about it, by the way). Flossing has the ability to decrease inflammation in your gum and subsequently in your arteries, so it will help you keep your heart pumping and your sex life thriving.
Oh, and it keeps your teeth intact, too. So do not follow the trend. Pick up the phone, and dial your dentist.

A lot of people have problems of hair overgrowth in different parts of their bodies. Fir people who could not stand the excess hair in their body, they should seriously consider undergoing laser hair removal treatment.

The good thing about laser hair removal treatment is that you get rid of the excess hair in your body with minimum discomforts. The treatment usually does not take long and it does not require the patient to stay in the hospital for the treatment. Furthermore, for most people, the hair do not really come back after the laser hair removal treatment.

There are at least four types of laser lights that doctors commonly use in laser hair removal treatment. The Alexandrite, the ruby, the diode and the ND and LP ND Yag or the Candela Gentle Yag are considered as the safest when it comes to laser hair removal.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Technically, laser hair removal treatment works by sending out laser light to the hair follicles and destroying the roots of the hair. Dermatologists use just enough amount of laser light to destroy the hair follicles without really harming the surrounding tissues. Once the roots of the hair are destroyed, the hair usually does not grow again. In some cases, the hair does grow back again but the grain of the hair is now finer and would not really look as ugly as it used to be.

How Does the Laser Beam Find the Hair Follicles?

In finding the hair follicles, the dermatologists usually focus on the dark color of the hair to guide them. Consequently, the laser beam is targeted on the dark colored portions in the skin of the patient. Since laser hair removal treatment relies on the difference between the colors of the skin and the hair of the person, not all persons would qualify for this type of hair removal treatment.

People who have very light colored skin and those with very dark colored skin are usually not qualified for this type of treatment. According to dermatologists, very fair people usually have very fair hair that it is very difficult for them to distinguish the skin from the hair follicles.

For very dark people, the problem of identifying the hair form the skin is even more difficult. Since it is dangerous to just point the laser beam to non-specific directions in the skin, most dermatologists would rather not perform laser hair removal treatment on very fair and very dark types of skin.

Sinus Infection

Posted by navdeep garg | 6:56 AM

You may think you have a common cold. Your nose is congested, your head hurts and you have developed an irritating cough. But your symptoms don't seem to go away in the week or two that it usually takes to say goodbye to a cold, and you are trying to go through the motions of your life feeling completely miserable. Finally, you head to your doctor's office in the hope that he will be able to provide a remedy that will bring relief from your painful symptoms. His diagnosis? You have acute sinusitis, or a sinus infection.

A sinus infection can be defined as an inflammation of your nasal and sinus passages. This inflammation can make it difficult for secretions and air to pass through the passages, resulting in pressure and pain. While sinus infections may be a common complaint that doctor's see and treat, the symptoms of one of these infections can be painful enough to effectively disrupt your daily life. Couple that pain with other symptoms, like a sore throat, cough, fatigue and fever, and you have the makings of an illness that is enough to keep you out of play for a period of time. The good news is that there are plenty of treatments available for sinus infections that will put you back on the road to good health in no time.

Differences between the Common Cold and a Sinus Infection

While many of the symptoms of a common cold and sinus infection are similar, such as nasal congestion, cough and sore throat, there are other symptoms that are unique to a sinus infection. These signs will tell you whether you need to take a trip to the doctor's office for antibiotics, or if you simply need to nurse your virus from home until it passes. For example, while both illnesses can include nasal congestion, a sinus infection will generally have nasal secretions that are thicker, and green or yellow in color. Pain is another telltale sign of an infection, and can be felt in the forehead around the eyebrows or on the cheekbones just under the eyes.

Sinus infections also come on most often at the tail end of a cold, rather than on their own. Most people will find that they are just beginning to recover from a common cold when they see a relapse in their symptoms, accompanied by some of the other signs listed above. If you suspect that you might have a sinus infection, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor to get the necessary prescription medication that will be necessary to kick the infection out of your system completely. Your doctor has plenty of choices in effective sinus infection relief and remedies so don't wait to call if you think that your cold has turned into an infection.

Acid reflux, sometimes known as GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), is an annoying and sometimes painful condition that occurs when acid and other materials in the stomach back up--reflux--into your esophagus. The esophagus is the muscular tube that leads from your throat to your stomach.

Most times during acid reflux, the materials from the stomach remain in the lower part of the esophagus, where they can cause heartburn and nausea. Over time, they can also cause damage to the esophagus.

Occasionally, the stomach materials will back up all the way into your mouth. When this happens, the acid will cause a burning sensation in your throat, and you may even find small, undigested pieces of food in your mouth.

What Causes Acid Reflux?

Acid reflux is usually blamed on a defective lower esophageal sphincter. The esophageal sphincter is a tough rim of muscle that surrounds the lower end of the esophagus. When food is eaten, the sphincter contracts strongly to push the food into the stomach.

Acid reflux occurs when the sphincter is not strong enough to force the food into the stomach, or when the sphincter does not push and simply relaxes, allowing food and chemicals in the stomach to rush back into the esophagus.

Other culprits associated with acid reflux include a hiatal hernia and a "weak" or "slow" esophagus that doesn't contract strongly enough to move the food to the stomach in a timely manner.

How Is Acid Reflux Treated?

Doctors usually suggest lifestyle changes first. These changes might include eating smaller meals, losing excess weight, abstaining from alcohol and cigarettes, staying up and active for at least a couple of hours after meals, and sleeping with your head elevated.

In addition, there are over-the-counter medications available to ease symptoms. Some, like Pepcid and Zantac are called Histamine Receptor Antagonists. They work by decreasing the amount of acid in the stomach. Other medicines, like Mylanta and Tagamet, work to neutralize acid.

Finally, if there is still no relief from symptoms, doctors may prescribe proton pump inhibitors such as Nexium and Prevacid. These medicines prevent the release of acid into the stomach and intestines. Finally, promotility agents, such as Reglan, may be used to force the esophagus to empty more quickly and to speed digestion.

If you are experiencing acid reflux, talk to your doctor to determine which treatment options are best for you.

Laser eye surgery, sometimes called LASIK surgery, is a procedure that either diminishes one's dependence on glasses or contacts or completely removes the need for them all together. The idea of having a laser taken to one's eyes may not sound entirely enjoyable, and there are some risks associated with laser eye surgery, but many patients are also pleased with the results.

Before going through with this type of operation, one has to carefully weigh the benefits and risks and talk to a doctor.

How Does Laser Eye Surgery Work?

The surgery is exactly as the title suggests: a laser is exposed to a person's eyes, hopefully correcting the vision for him/her. First, a knife called a microkeratome cuts a flap in the cornea. At this point the stroma, the middle part of the cornea, is now exposed. The laser is then exposed to the eye, destroying some of the stroma and changing the overall shape of the cornea. The flap is obviously replaced and the surgery is over. There are now many techniques which allow for people to choose a particular preference, but this is the most common and general way of going about it.

What Can I Expect During And After The Surgery?

A patient is giving a numbing drop before the actual laser eye surgery takes place. Because the person getting the surgery is obviously still awake when receiving the laser, he/she will be asked to stare at a light or object. Being able to fix one's eyes on a particular object is essential to the success of this operation because it allows the doctor to work easily and it can prevent certain complications and discomfort later on.

The patient will be exposed to new sights (or lack thereof, as many people experience blurred or hazy vision during the entire process), smells, and sounds, mostly from the laser. After the laser is done performing its work, a protective shield should be placed over the patient's eye so he/she does not scratch it. The new flap that protects the cornea is not held in place by anything and if the patient rubs it the wrong way, it could become dislodged and cause some major problems.

For as long as eight weeks after the laser eye surgery, a patient will not be able to participate in swimming activities, and that includes sitting in a hot tub. In that times span, one will also not be able to take part in contact sports or wear eye make-up. For about four weeks after the surgery, one will also have to wear a protective shield to bed as well, allowing the flap to fully integrate itself with its new surroundings. Again, and this cannot be stressed enough, scratching the eye after surgery is not a good idea at all.

Laser eye surgery takes plenty of patience and self-control, and one has to get over the mental block that an actual laser is literally burning off part of one's eye. However, once the risks and benefits (which are usually not mentioned as much as the risks, but the idea of never wearing contacts or glasses again is enticing to many people) are weighed, a person should be ready to go through with the procedure.

Eating disorders can easily be classed as the growing epidemic in the world today, and it is not hard to see why. After all, the image of beauty today is sharply different than it was even ten years ago, and is continuing to go at the same pace into the future. Women especially are expected to look a certain way, and this is the primary factor that causes eating disorders.

Different Types of Eating Disorders

There are different types of eating disorders, with one of the most popular being anorexia. Those who suffer from anorexia usually have an extremely low self-esteem and often also have a tremendous need to control their surroundings and their emotions as well, and anorexia is usually a way to cope with certain emotions such as stress, anxiety, and unhappiness.

Then there is also bulimia, which is when a large amount of food is eaten in a relatively short period of time and is then purged back up; behaviors such as taking laxatives or self-induced vomiting are the two most common ways of purging that are used. Bulimia occurs a lot of the time due to the fact that the person feels overwhelmed in coping with their emotions, or because they are trying to subconsciously punish themselves for something.

Both of these eating disorders should be taken incredibly seriously, and if you or someone you know has or may have one of these or any other eating disorders, the seeking of help is truly crucial.

One of the hardest things of all can be admitting that you have an eating disorder, but you should know that if you do you certainly are not the only one out there, and that you should feel no shame. If you want help, it is available, and you can find other ways to release your stress and to live your life, and you can rid yourself of this problem.

Remember that recovery is usually an incredibly long road, and that you do not have to travel that road alone, as you can find people that will stick by your side the entire way through. It really is important to reach out for help, and in fact, not only is it important to ask for help, it is actually necessary, as this is the only way that you will truly be able to recover from your eating disorder.

Suppose you've suffered from migraine headaches most of your life. You've been to many physicians and spent a small fortune on prescription medications like Imitrex, Maxalt, and the other "triptan-class" formulations that work to relieve migraines by constricting blood vessels in the brain and relieve swollen vessels that cause the headache. Either none of the medications work for you, or else their side effects make them just as unpleasant as having the headache. So what do you do now?

After consulting your physician, perhaps it is time you consider trying a natural remedy. This is a form of alternative medicine, or unconventional medicine, which is outside the "mainstream" of Western health care. Natural remedies have been practiced in ancient civilizations in the Orient for thousands of years. Asian healers today still collect plants, herbs, roots, bark, minerals, and other naturally-occurring substances to relieve pain, relieve symptoms of diseases, to prevent illness and even cure many ailments. In addition to herbal medicine, alternative medicine also includes acupuncture, acupressure, homeopathy, hypnotherapy and biofeedback.

Are Natural Remedies Safe?

This depends on the natural product used, and the skill of the practitioner that prepares or administers it. Natural Remedies involving herbal substances are not regulated by the FDA, and practitioners of the art are not licensed or held to specific standards of practice. Most practitioners learn their craft by demonstration, word of mouth, and well-researched books on the substances.

According to the FDA, natural herbal remedies should never be used to self-treat serious diseases and conditions, especially if the symptoms continue over time. Nor should they be used to treat children, by pregnant or nursing mothers, or with pets. It's imperative that you inform your physician if you're using an herbal natural remedy because they may negatively interact with prescription medications and laboratory tests. If you develop unusual side effects while using a natural remedy, stop taking it and call your physician.

All herbal natural remedies should be purchased from reputable, well-known sources. Similarly, acupuncture should be provided by a legitimate expert who can prove his or her success through personal and professional references from actual customers. When you're using an herbal substance, always ask what it contains and how the ingredients work. Be especially careful with tinctures, as they contain alcohol and so people who have chemical dependency problems should not use tinctures.

Self-treating with natural remedies is not something you should attempt on your own unless you've thoroughly done your homework and know what you're doing. Many reputable online companies provide consultation and instruction about how to safely use their products. They also send instruction sheets when they send you your products. Since many herbs, plants and berries are deadly when consumed by humans, you might want to pick up a book or two on herbal medicine and natural remedies. For example, biofeedback probes are ineffective if not placed properly and acupuncture shouldn't be overtly painful. If you have unpleasant side effects from any of these forms of alternative medicine, something is wrong.

They keys to the successful use of natural remedies are quality, knowledge, and safety.

As children grow into teenagers, their bodies change, their hormones rage, and they often develop a skin disorder called acne. Acne is marked by pimples and redness, typically on the back but it can also occur elsewhere on the body. Acne can be devastating for any teenager, especially since this is the age when a child is trying to fit in the most. It can cause teens to become withdrawn, depressed and it can cause them to miss out on a lot of fun. That's why, as parents, it's important to boost your teens self esteem. Tell them that this skin disorder is just a fact of life and it will usually go away after a few years. If it doesn't go away, however, then more drastic measures may be needed, but that's only for a dermatologist to decide.

Self Esteem

If your teen develops acne, make sure you let them know that it's usually only temporary. Just because they have acne doesn't mean that they are any less of a person. They are the same amazing person they've always been, and they will continue to get better with age, no matter what their skin looks like. If they don't feel like going outside, or out with their friends, don't force them but let them know that people don't like them because of their skin. If anyone doesn't like them because of their acne, they're not worth knowing anyway. It's important for your child to know that acne is only a skin disorder and it's very minor when compared to the grand scheme of things.

Get A Dermatologist's Opinion

If your child's acne is only marked by a few pimples here and there, then some over the counter creams and solutions can help. It's recommended that your child try these first before you make an appointment with a dermatologist. If your child's condition doesn't clear up, or if it appears to be getting more severe, then it might be time to get a doctor's opinion. Your doctor will examine your child's acne and will then determine if they're eligible for more drastic measures, such as a prescription strength medicine. These prescription strength medicines can clear up severe forms of acne but they're only recommended as a last resort. That's because many of these medicines affect the kidneys and can lead to long term problems. For this reason, make sure your doctor performs blood work on your child to ensure no problems develop.

All in all, however, acne is a minor problem that will clear up with age. Generally, it's due to hormone fluctuations. As long as your child learns and understands that, they'll have a better chance of coping, especially during this very stressful period of growing up.

Why are you such an angry society? The public views this behavior as counterproductive and at times, very immature. Anger management consists of following various techniques to help you understand what makes you tick and how to counter it before you ruin your reputation. Break the destructive cycle to build better relationships with others.

Learn to take a moment to think about what you are doing before you explode and lose respect of co-workers. How much effort are you willing to put into changing your behavior for a better future? The more time you invest in anger management, the greater your results will be for everyone. On the other hand, practicing a couple anger management keys will unlock the door to many possibilities you never knew existed.

Watch Your Mouth

Our mothers warned us of this simple technique at a very young age, but we forget these three words in the midst of an agreement. Quick, degrading comments of your colleague will not give you the upper hand in the disagreement - it will demolish your reputation. If you have not noticed, our mouths can get us in plenty of trouble in a matter of seconds. Anger management is a key to handling a dispute without creating an unpleasantness about your behavior. Notice the difference in co-worker behavior once you decide to watch your tempter in public places as well as in private socials.

Practice Humility

If you are in an argument or disagreement, take a moment to think about what you are going to say. For example, professionals do not show an unprofessional appearance during meetings if there is a conflict of interest between associates. Parents do not show rage in front of their children if a situation has irritated them because they would like their children to be civilized. There are a number of consequences for showing hostility towards others.

Legal action may be enforced upon you if you attack a co-worker verbally, physically, or emotionally. Why are most of our arguments centered around personal attacks on the other person? Our egos take control of the whole situation then we allow ourselves to fall victim to naïve behaviors. Controlling your ego is an anger management key that is vital to constructive arguments.

Developing anger management skills can lead to a more fulfilling life when you decide to practice them. At times, a subtle yell or furious outburst can end a very important aspect in your life - relationships or employment. The stakes are too high to take a chance like that because communication is irreversible in a thousand means. Handle all confrontations with complete objectivity if possible; logical reasoning can save you your job and, at most, your career.

Many people in our world today are quite dissatisfied with the features that they have naturally, and they are often wishing and longing for a change in their appearance. The people, especially women, tend to compare their physical features with others and to become preoccupied with the way that they look. This often leads to a feeling of discontent and is generally not warranted at all. On the other hand, there are those who seek the benefits of cosmetic surgery for very legitimate reasons, and it can be a helpful and valuable solution for many. Weighing the pros and cons of cosmetic surgery is wise before making the leap unadvised for haphazardly.

The Pros Of Cosmetic Surgery

It seems that many people seek to change their appearance in various ways, whether changing wrinkles on their face, a nose that is a bit too large, or eyes that sag. Yet, some people have been seriously injured and disfigured due to car accidents or other trauma, and for these individuals, cosmetic surgery can be a highly welcomed treatment option. With the technology available in this field today, there are many ways of improving problems such as scarring and even reconstructing parts of the body and face. Those who are born with defects of various kinds can also find help in the expertise of cosmetic surgery professionals. Often, changing one's appearance in this way provides a person with more confidence and a boost of self-esteem as well. For example, someone who is born with a cleft palate can possibly begin to enjoy the benefits of life without this cumbersome issue.

The Cons Of Cosmetic Surgery

While there are many good and valuable aspects of cosmetic surgery, there is also a downside to seeking out this form of treatment. Often, young women seek this form of treatment purely for vain reasons, not considering the medical risks involved. With any type of surgery, there are risks, no matter how minimal they may be. A surgeon is not divine and often makes mistakes because of his/her humanness. The outcome of a facelift or a nose job may be worse than the former, and then one has the pain and embarrassment to deal with of a botch attempt. Also, the cost of this type of surgery is generally not covered by insurance companies, and the expense is typically very high. Going into debt for purely temporal reasons is not a wise choice to make for one's future. Overall, one must weigh for themselves what is truly an important endeavor in their lives and decide if cosmetic surgery is of the utmost importance.

Time for Retirement

Posted by navdeep garg | 1:04 AM

Everyone in the workforce must eventually retire. This doesn't have to feel like the end of the world. One should look at retirement as another chapter in ones life. There are many people that begin real life after retirement. One isn't anchored to a job when they retire. That means that an individual is free to do whatever it is that they want to do. Everyone has dreams and these dreams can be attained with a little planning. Talk to an investment counselor and decide what dreams can be attainable. In society today, people are expected to be active after retirement. Most people are not looking to play shuffleboard for the rest of ones life. If someone wants to spend their time playing shuffleboard, that's okay, but it shouldn't be mandatory for all retirees. Retirement should be the culmination of everything accomplished earlier and enjoyed in the present tense. Whatever it is that one has a passion for, that is what they can and should do with their life. What better way to spend the rest of ones life by doing exactly what it is they want to? Don't let anybody tell one what they should do with their life. Only the individual can make that decision and follow through with it.

Pit Falls of Retirement

When one knows that they will retire, it should be a time for planning the future and not a time to think that they aren't useful to anyone anymore. Having a negative outlook will lead to ones demise. Be careful of what one asks for. If one associates retirement with dying or being old, that is exactly what will happen. Another pitfall to avoid is closing out the world and not having a plan for the rest of ones life. Retirement doesn't have to mean having a lot of money. Usually, it is found that it is much less expensive to live when the daily commute expenses, cost of professional clothing, and other work expenses are done away with. There are plenty of places for one to volunteer for. Many people volunteer time in a hospital. This can make one thankful for good health. Maybe one has thought of teaching. This can be an excellent choice because of the amount of knowledge one has had through life. Whatever it is that an individual decides to do with their free time it is important to maintain a positive mental attitude. Retirement should be a happy and relaxing time of life.

Ups and Downs of Pregnancy

Posted by navdeep garg | 1:01 AM

Many of us plan for a baby's arrival much in advance and many women plan on being a mother for as long as they can remember. Many feel that being a mother is what makes life meaningful and complete. However, what we all don't know and cannot plan in advance for is pregnancy and what will happen during that period of time.

Prepare for Pregnancy

The best thing about being pregnant is the fact that you will bring your child to this world and nothing can be a better experience than that/ The feeling of having a human life grow within you is something you will wonder about everyday and enjoy every single moment of it. There are unfortunately some discomforts that may come along with pregnancy as well and for which you should be prepared before hand.

The most important thing is the change in your taste buds and this is something you will notice probably in the very first month of your pregnancy. You will have a never ending appetite and most of the time for the foods that you never had a liking before. You may also experience mood swings due to the hormonal imbalance that will occur during pregnancy and usually it manifests itself with huge inexplicable highs and lows.

Your body is yet another place where drastic changes will occur during pregnancy and for which no matter how prepared you are before hand you will still wonder about with each passing day. The question that every pregnant woman asks herself everyday is - how can my stomach stretch so much - well, it does and unfortunately it could also leave stretch marks after the baby is born.

The Changes that Come with the Arrival of a Baby

A baby is a responsibility for life; it will not stop once the pregnancy is over or once he or she learns to walk or goes to college. This is probably something all parents must consider preparing themselves for - a lifetime commitment.

Pregnancy brings the greatest of joys but also the greatest of responsibilities there will ever be so, prepare yourself mentally, physically and financially because you will need all three area and many others along the way to work in coordination.

There are many ups and downs of pregnancy but, the truth is the ups always will always out number the downs as, having a baby is the most wonderful experience that there can ever be.

Aromatherapy quality essential oils can be a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. If they are 100% essential oil, then you only need a few drops per use. You can sometimes get a price discount if the essential oil has already been blended with a carrier oil like apricot kernel, jojoba or even olive oil. Then you can use the oil straight from the bottle. Most 100% straight essential oils will be WAY too strong to put directly onto the skin.

The Bath

The easiest and most luxurious way of suing your essential oils is in the bath or added to a footbath. Run the bath first, and then put the essential oils in the water after it is full. Swirl the water around for a mix, then slip in and soak. Use no more than 6 or 7 drops of essential oil in your bath or footbath; otherwise it might be too strong for your skin. Stay in the tub or footbath for at least ten minutes to get the goodness of the oils sink into your body.

Massage Oils

Another fun way to use your aromatherapy oils is with massage, whether just for one body part or all over. You want the ratio of straight essential oil to carrier oil to be 1 to 10. So, if you have 10 ml of carrier oil, use no more than 1ml of aromatherapy oil. It is best to keep a separate bowl to do the mixing of massage oils. Of course, you can also buy already mixed massage oils. Make sure your hands are warm or at least body temperature before you put them on the one getting massaged.

Compresses

Never underestimate the power of a hot or a cold compress. Cold compresses are good for sprains, strains, headaches bruises. Hot compresses are good for rheumatism, abscesses, toothache and earaches. Select a clean cloth or towel. Fill a shallow bowl with the desired temperature of water. Put in three or four drops of the selected aromatherapy oil. Then put the cloth in, let it soak, wring out the excess water and place on the area that hurts. Wrap it with a flexible bandage or plastic wrap to keep it in place. Replace when needed.

With all of these uses, you need to also use common sense with your uncommon scents. Don't substitute these uses for a doctor's advice. buy an aromatherapy book or check out a website to discover the medicinal properties of each essential oil.

The meaning of yoga is union and is a Sanskrit word that denotes a family of ancient spiritual practices that originated in India where, to this day, it is still a vibrant and living tradition being thought of as being a means to achieving enlightenment. There are many forms of yoga such as Karma, Bhakti, and Jnana as well as Raja which form the four main pillars though there are many other branches. In the West, where yoga has become popular, it is mainly associated with asanas or postures of Hatha yoga and is very popular and thought of as being exercise routines that forms the basis of much business enterprises.

Attain Enlightenment

Being central to the concept of attaining enlightenment, it is the focus of much of Hindu, Buddhist as well as Jain religions which is much influenced by it in spiritual practices throughout the world. Yoga was known in ancient India through various texts including the Upanishads, Yoga sutras of Patanjali, the Holy book called the Bhagwat Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika as well as many others and all of them lay down the criteria of how to master particular techniques successfully.

In the present day, yoga practice may include traditional elements like moral and ethical practices and postures to maintain the fitness of the body, spiritual philosophy, and instructions from a guru, mantra chanting, breathing exercises and stilling the mind with the help of meditation. It's attraction in the Western world may stem from its perceived utility as a technique for relaxation or as a means to attain fitness.

During its long history, there have been different schools with numerous subdivisions as well as much synthesis and yoga is commonly spoken of as being a path to enlightenment and includes components of love and devotion, selfless work, knowledge and even the eight-limbed system of disciplines dealing mainly with meditation.

Hindu, Buddhist as well as Jain traditions allude to the spiritual goals as being inseparable from religion of which yoga is a part and some yogis see religion as being more concerned with outward beliefs, rituals, values and cultures while yoga is more concerned with the inner self-realization. There are certain forms that are replete with iconography while others are minimalist and the Hindu practitioners take great pride in their religious traditions while non-Hindus claim that if practiced with sincerity, it would provide much benefit.

Relax And Fight Depression

Posted by navdeep garg | 1:05 AM

People today are facing a lot of stress during their work and their day-to-day life. There is too much work and not much time for relaxation. The weekend, which is generally reserved for rest, is used for catching up with the household chores and children's work. Hence, there is no relaxation here either. Vacations are costly, and hence far and in between. The result is that the stress gets accumulated and this triggers depression.

Meditation And Positive Thinking - The Best Tools Against Depression

Maybe there is not sufficient time for relaxation during weekend or during the day. However, as the saying goes, "Where there is a will, there is a way." You can set aside just 10 minutes in the morning, in the night or whenever else during the day to meditate. Meditation techniques of yoga have been found to be extremely effective. However, just 10 minutes of total shut down time, wherever you are, in the office or at home, can work wonders.

This is not meditation really, but it is a form of relaxation; a form of total shut down where your body and mind say together, Enough is enough - let us start from the beginning!' This is the best way to beat depression. Without regular total shut downs, our system gets too stressed and becomes vulnerable.

It is extremely important today to stop and relax. True enough, the importance of this requirement is inversely proportional with the time we have for it. Hence, we are prone for mental breakdowns and we are ill equipped to handle major emergencies and crises that life hands over. The mind is so stressed with day-to-day demands that any additional pressure can cause massive damage.

This is why people should learn and let go once in a while; cleanse their minds and detoxify their bodies so they can handle their hectic lives again. It does not matter how difficult your life is and how demanding your job, if you manage to relax periodically and "recharge your batteries" you will be able to face the world with full confidence and buoyancy and you will finally be able to beat depression.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States, affecting one in every five people every year. However, it can also be one of the most treatable forms of cancer, particularly when it is caught early. This is why it is so important for everyone to familiarize themselves with general information about this disease, and learn how to separate the facts from the fiction when it comes to skin cancer. Of course, the best person to answer any of your questions or concerns about cancer is your doctor. But you can arm yourself with some basic information that will help you to reduce your risks of this type of disease.

Skin Cancer, Skin Tones and Sun Exposure

One of the first and easiest things that you can do to reduce your risk of skin cancer is to protect your skin from the UV rays of the sun. But first you need to understand the facts about sun exposure. First, exposure to these rays can occur even on cloudy days. Second, UV rays can penetrate clothing, especially garments that are light-colored and made of lightweight fabric - like the type of clothing that is typically worn in warmer weather when the sun's rays are brightest. Finally, dangerous UV exposure can also occur when sunlight reflects off of the snow or shines through glass windows, like in your car.

Some people think that if they head to a tanning salon to catch that golden glow, they are somehow safer from the risks of skin cancer. Not so. The lights in the tanning booths emit the same type of UV rays that the sun does. This means that use of tanning booths can indeed increase your risk of skin cancer. In fact, spending time at these tanning salons prior to the age of 35 can increase your chances of being diagnosed with this type of cancer by as much as 75%. This statistic alone should be a good reason to greatly limit the amount of time you spend under tanning lights, or make you bid farewell to tanning salons completely.

It is also a common belief that people with darker skin tones cannot get skin cancer. While it is absolutely true that having fair skin can greatly increase your risk for this disease, darker skin tones can have problems as well. The big problem arises when people with these skin tones do not bother to protect their skin from the sun's rays or head to their doctor for early skin cancer screenings. The later skin cancer is detected, the harder it is to treat, meaning that people with these skin tones may not get cancer as often, but when they do it is usually found in the more advanced stages.

While skin cancer can be a scary diagnosis, you cna reduce your risk. Reducing your sun exposure is a good first step. You should also go in for annual skin screenings with your doctor, since early detection is a key in an effective treatment plan. Skin cancer happens, but you can take steps to keep your skin safer.

Obesity. If you struggle with it, you know the pain. If you do not have a problem with obesity, you cannot understand how difficult it is to cope with. Many who are not overweight think that losing weight is as simple as dieting and adding a little exercise into one's day. They might think that the obese person is simply lazy and lacks self discipline. While some people who are overweight struggle with their weight because of a lack of motivation, this is not true for all people. The causes and cures for this problem can be much more complicated.

Main Cause: Lifestyle

The main cause of obesity in children or adults is an improper lifestyle. There is no getting around the fact that today's society does not make healthy food convenient. Not only are convenience foods high in sugar and saturated fats, but they are also much cheaper than healthier options. When you combine unhealthy food with a lifestyle built around time on the computer, you set yourself up for obesity. The cure for lifestyle caused weight problems is to make lifestyle changes, even if they are not convenient.

Is There A Genetic Cause?

Many claim that there is a genetic cause for obesity. Is this possible? If you look at an obese person, chances are their children and even their parents are also overweight. But does this mean genetics plays a part in the problem?

Not necessarily. Most families share their way of life with each other. If parents overeat and do not exercise, chances are their children will be the same way. But there does seem to be a genetic factor that affects the metabolism. Some people are simply born with a slower or faster metabolism than others. This is why some can eat and eat without gaining an ounce, while others feel as though if they look at food, they gain weight. This is possibly a genetic reason for obesity. There is no cure for genetics, but those dealing with a slower metabolism need to learn how much food their body needs, and make sure they are feeding themselves the right type of food.

Emotional Causes Of The Problem

Many people who struggle with obesity have an underlying emotional reason for overeating. Somewhere in their past they turned to food for comfort, and the endorphins released in the brain by the food brought the comfort they desired. A habitual eating for comfort leads to weight gain, and struggles with losing weight. The cure for this cause is to replace food with some other activity to bring comfort, while trying to deal with the emotional pain that is causing the eating.

Most adults have had their blood pressure taken by a nurse or doctor on one of their regular checks. Many times, the nurse or doctor comes in to put a blood pressure cuff around the arm. The nurse or doctor then presses a contraption that inflates the cuff before looking at some kind of a dial. Many doctors or nurses do not say a word about the blood pressure if there is no problem. If there is some kind of a problem, the medical professional might just look concerned or they might discuss the problem with the patient.

Many people know that their blood pressure is good or bad, but many people do not know what the blood pressure is. If there is a problem, the doctor might prescribe a medicine and recommend exercise, but many people do not know what the doctor is talking about. If the doctor told them they had a broken leg, they would recognize the problem. If they have a brain tumor, they can visualize what this might look like in their cranial cavity. The people with high blood pressure who get a bad reading when the doctor inflates that cuff often take the medications prescribed by the doctor.

Blood Pressure Is Measured With Two Numbers

Blood pressure is measured in two different numbers when the nurse or doctor puts that cuff on the arm. One measure is called systolic and the other is called diastolic. If these numbers get too high or too low, the medical expert who reads the meter will realize that there is a problem. There are then medications that people can take to get the numbers right. Doctors might also recommend more sleep, a better diet and exercise. Most people are able to control their blood pressure with the help of a vigilant doctor.

High blood pressure can result in some serious conditions if the patient does not take precautions to control their blood pressure. Some doctors will ask their patients to monitor their pressure on a regular basis with a home machine. This information will give the doctor insight into the severity of the condition. There are several medications that medical professionals have developed through medical research studies. These studies have identified the problems, possible causes and remedies. All of the people affected by this condition should work carefully with their doctor to make sure that they are taking all measures to correct the condition.

Child care today in the United States is radically different from what it was in the past couple of decades and it is a subject that has found a lot of comment being passed and many discussions taking place about its merits and demerits. In fact, if you look around today, you will find books, journals and newspaper reports all dealing with child care, thus thrusting this topic into the limelight and it has much that needs to be sorted out.

More Professional

Child care is certainly a lot more than simply raising one's child and making him cultured as well as conforming to acceptable types of behavior; it is today a part of big business and the child care industry is growing and showing no signs of slowing down. The ways of looking at child care have certainly changed and new methods of raising children have evolved which is a far cry from when the mother or nanny did all the looking after of children.

The way that children are raised today is much more complicated and requires much more professional handling, and given that today more and more working parents both have jobs to hold, it is not difficult to understand why professionals have entered this field to take up the slack. Thus, today one would not be wrong in calling child care big business and much more professional and to a great extent very institutionalized as well.

You can see many nurseries mushrooming up to take care of infants. Though it may not always be easy to find the proper nursery for your toddler because most mothers would balk at the thought of entrusting their lovely children to someone else. These mothers are in need of much assurance that the nursery that they select is indeed the proper one for their children. A good source to find out more about child care centers would be the local community where such centers are generally registered, and getting recommendations from other parents is also a good course of action.

Certainly, one can say that sending children to child care centers is robbing them of personal love and warmth of parents; however, putting them in the hands of professionally trained people is also not that bad either since the child will also be among other children and thus can learn to be more adaptive and social. A child will also learn to be a sharing person, as well as will also learn to care about others instead of being self-centered all the time.

The skin is the largest organ of the human body, and the appearance of the skin can make a significant difference in the appearance of each person. Bright, clear skin can provide a radiant picture to every other person. Effective skin care is very important to this appearance. Skin care should begin with good nutrition. Everything a person eats makes a difference in the appearance of their skin. People who eat a great deal of junk food are not going to have wonderful skin. Skin care should start with a diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals. Those people who do not get enough of these important elements in their diet should probably take supplements for better skin care.

The vitamin and mineral supplements are not usually necessary for good skin care if the diet is rich in these same vitamins and minerals. These substances can be obtained for great skin care by eating a diet filled with fruits and vegetables. Each fruit and vegetable has certain vitamins and minerals. Skin care can be much improved by adding the right fruits and vegetables. Drinking water often helps with skin care so each person should try to drink as much water as possible during the course of the day.

A Skin Care Regime Should Be Completed On A Regular Basis

Skin care should be a daily concern for each individual, and a proper routine will help to achieve glowing, beautiful skin. The first concern should be clean skin that is free from all of the dirt and grim in the environment. There are excellent products to keep the skin clean and gorgeous. The skin should be cleaned every morning and evening with a good soap or cleansing cream. The cost of cleansing tools varies widely, and the most expensive are not always significantly better than the less expensive products.

Each person should find out about their skin type. Some people have oily skin that might develop blemishes more readily. These people should try to find a toner that will minimize the oil on their skin. Other people have dry skin that can age more rapidly if not hydrated properly. There are excellent products on the market that will provide this hydration. Specialty products can be added to the skin care routine for even better looking skin. There are masques that can brighten the appearance of the skin.

Perhaps the most precious commodity a person has is his or her health, which is something that must be protected and preserved if one is to enjoy life. The only trouble is that the costs of maintaining one's health is anything but cheap and the steadily rising costs of medical treatment is a major cause for worry. This has also led to health insurance becoming really expensive; though it is a necessity that you can ill afford to do without. So you will need to search high and low in order to find a policy that provides you adequate coverage and a premium that is affordable.

Look For Exclusions

There are a few simple ways to ensure that your health insurance is not too expensive and provides a good level of coverage. To begin with, you can look at the exclusions from your policy and remember that these medical procedures will not be covered even if they are medically necessary. These things will be extra out of pocket expenses, which in essence add to the cost of your health insurance coverage. Thus, knowing the exclusions is to your advantage if you want to reap the benefits of a good health insurance policy.

Another important aspect when deciding on which health insurance plan to purchase is finding our what additional costs fall to you as the subscriber. Costs such as co-pays and deductibles are often raised in order to lower premiums. If you need to see the doctor often or have other chronic illness these expenses could end up costing you lots of money.

Other things to keep in mind would include annual and/or lifetime limits on benefits, pre-existing condition exclusions and prescription drug coverage. You also need to know if you can see your current doctor, or if you will need to change doctors to one that is under contract with the health insurance company.

You can find great health insurance companies if you check out the department of insurance in your state because this is where you can get expert advice regarding health insurance. With a whole lot of experience, you will only benefit by tapping into this resource where you will generally only find companies that enjoy a good reputation. Thus, if you want to protect your health with health insurance, get in touch with only those companies that are reputable and avoid those that are of poor rating.

Heart disease remains one of the major causes of premature death in the world today. While this news might sound grim on the surface, the reality is that the sheer volume of premature deaths brought about by heart disease has declined significantly in recent years.

The reason for this is that tremendous strides have been made in terms of the treatment of coronary disease. The expansion of drugs designed to prevent heart attacks as well as surgeries designed to eliminate problems and restore proper heart functioning have become quite expansive and the number of fatalities caused by heart disease have been dramatically reduced.

Steps Forward In Dealing with Heart Disease

In addition to the medical treatments of heart disease, there have been a number of preventive measures that are in place that can greatly reduce the problems associated with coronary disease. The consciousness of the public has been raised greatly in terms of educating people in regards to the benefits of proper diet, avoiding smoking and drugs, and investing time in a strong cardiovascular exercise program designed to make the heart much stronger.

This is by no means a statement that heart problems are no longer a serious matter or that heart problems could be circumvented easily by minor treatment. On the contrary, heart disease is an extremely serious condition whose danger should never be understated. However, it is important to note that a heart condition is no longer the dire situation it once was decades ago.

Check Ups Can Prevent Heart Problems

A regular check up with your physician will not prevent all forms of heart disease from occurring, but it definitely can have a significant effect on catching a heart problem before it becomes a serious matter. As with any malady or condition, catching the problem early enough will provide the impetus for getting treatment as soon as possible. When treatment is delivered quickly, the ability to circumvent or successfully treat the problem before it becomes life threatening is a high probability. Because of this, regular check ups should be something that those who are at risk for heart problems should undertake.

Who is at Risk?

There are a number of people who are at risk for heart disease and the most at risk will be those who have a family history of heart disease. So, if hereditary heart conditions are common in your family lineage, then it would be wise to make sure you discuss this heredity with your doctor and to make sure you keep regular annual check ups to look for any potential problems. If you do this, then you may be able to circumvent serious problems down the road.
